Fifteen-year-old Rocco Wilde, from Foulridge, is preparing to make a remarkable return to racing this week as he continues his recovery from a fractured ankle.
Rocco, who attends Ermysted’s Grammar School in Skipton, is a talented young cyclist competing for the Secret Training rider development team. He started riding at a local club CSP and now regularly races on both the regional and national cycling circuit, specialising in road and track racing.
One of Rocco’s standout performances came at last year’s Colne Grand Prix, where he finished an impressive 6th place in the Under-16 A Section, competing against some of the country’s most promising young riders.
Despite currently recovering from a fractured ankle, Rocco is hoping to line up to compete once again at this year’s Colne Grand Prix tomorrow night, where he will compete in the Under-16 category. His determination to return to racing so soon after injury highlights the dedication and resilience that have helped him establish himself as one of the area’s rising cycling talents.
Rocco has enjoyed success across a number of prestigious youth competitions, including the Manchester Regional Track League, the British Cycling National Youth Omnium Series, and the Circuit of Ingleborough, where he recorded a first-place finish in the Youth Road Bike category with a time of 1.09.23.
Family, friends and supporters will be cheering him on as he takes on the challenge of returning to competition and representing both Foulridge and Secret Training at one of Lancashire’s most popular cycling events.
Good luck, Rocco!
